Terms and Conditions for Slowcation™ Savings-Based Booking

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of the Slowcation™ savings-based booking feature (“Slowcation”) offered through the Stayza platform (“Platform”), operated by Taped Technology Limited (“the Company”). By opting into Slowcation, Users acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

1. Definitions

1. User – any individual or entity using Slowcation to save toward a future booking.
2. Host – any accommodation provider listing lodging on the Platform.
3. Contribution – incremental payments made by a User into their Slowcation plan.
4. Reservation Lock – the point at which the User has paid the required threshold and selected dates, causing the Host to reserve those dates.
5. Blocking Fee – a non-refundable fee charged after locking dates to compensate Hosts.
6. Platform Fees – charges applied by payment processors or the Platform.

2. Purpose of the Slowcation Feature

Slowcation allows Users to save gradually toward accommodation bookings. A booking is confirmed only once the User reaches the required contribution threshold and selects check-in and check-out dates. Slowcation is a voluntary savings plan, not a loan or financing service.

3. User Eligibility

To use Slowcation, the User must:
a. Be at least 18 years old;
b. Have a verified Stayza account;
c. Agree to these Terms and Platform policies.

4. Savings and Contributions

4.1 Users may deposit Contributions at any time toward their selected accommodation.
4.2 There is no minimum Contribution amount unless stated by the Host.
4.3 The Platform displays progress, total Contributions, balance remaining, and deadlines where applicable.
4.4 Contributions are held securely until:

• A booking is confirmed;
• A refund is processed;
• Funds are released to the Host as outlined in these Terms.

5. Reservation and Confirmation of Dates

5.1 A booking is not confirmed until:
• The User contributes at least 30% of the total price (“Reservation Threshold”), and
• The User selects check-in and check-out dates.

5.2 Once the Reservation Threshold is reached:
• The Host will block the selected dates.
• A non-refundable Blocking Fee of 5% of the total booking value becomes due.

5.3 The remaining balance must be fully paid at least 7 days before check-in unless stated otherwise by the Host.

6. Cancellation Policy

6.1 Cancellation Before Reservation Threshold
• 100% refund of Contributions
• Minus Platform and payment processor fees

6.2 Cancellation After Reservation Lock
A. Within 24 hours: 100% refund minus Blocking Fee and fees
B. 30+ days before check-in: 75% refund minus fees
C. 15–30 days: 50% refund minus fees
D. 7–14 days: 25% refund minus fees
E. Less than 7 days: No refund

7. Failure to Complete Payment

If the User does not complete payment by the deadline:
• The booking is cancelled automatically
• Refunds follow Section 6
• The Host may relist the dates

8. Rescheduling Policy

8.1 One free reschedule is allowed if requested 14+ days before check-in.
8.2 Additional or late reschedules may incur a Platform fee.
8.3 Rescheduling is subject to Host availability.

9. Inactive Savings

9.1 After 6 months of inactivity, the User will be notified.
9.2 After 12 months, the plan may be cancelled and refundable funds returned.

10. Host Obligations

Hosts agree to:
a. Honour locked dates once the Reservation Threshold is met;
b. Follow the cancellation rules in Section 6;
c. Maintain accurate listings, pricing, and availability;
d. Avoid double-booking reserved dates.

Non-compliance may result in penalties or removal.

11. User Obligations

Users agree to:
a. Provide accurate information;
b. Make timely payments;
c. Use the Platform responsibly;
d. Communicate respectfully with Hosts and the Company.

12. Fees and Charges

12.1 The Platform may charge:
• Blocking Fees
• Platform Fees
• Payment processor fees
• Rescheduling fees

12.2 All applicable fees will be disclosed before confirmation.

13. Platform Liability

13.1 Stayza acts as an intermediary between Users and Hosts.
13.2 Stayza is not liable for:
• Host cancellations
• Accommodation quality issues
• Payment processor errors
• User errors or misrepresentations

13.3 The Platform may assist in dispute mediation.

14. Refund Processing

Refunds are processed within 7–14 business days depending on the payment method.

15. Data Protection

Stayza will process personal data in line with Zambia’s Data Protection Act, applicable financial regulations, and the Platform’s Privacy Policy.

16. Modification of Terms

These Terms may be updated at any time. Users will be notified of material changes. Continued use of Slowcation constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Termination

Stayza may suspend or terminate a User for:
• Fraudulent activities
• Abuse toward Hosts or staff
• Violation of these Terms
• Providing false or misleading information

Users may cancel voluntarily, subject to the rules in Section 6.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Zambia. Any disputes will be resolved in Zambian courts or through agreed arbitration channels.
